Meet Dr. Brown
Although I was born into a dental family, my path to becoming a dentist was not an easy one. My father believed that the struggle of becoming was more important than the arriving.
While in junior high my dad said, “I have started a small educational fund for your college. You can be an average student and spend that money on your college education or you can apply yourself, get scholarships and keep it as seed money for your future.”
I chose option two. Although it was not an easy task, I graduated valedictorian from high school and was offered an academic and golf scholarship to college.
Strange as it may seem, I was twenty and in my second year of college before I made the decision to follow my father’s footsteps into the world of dentistry. Going through college it was not uncommon for me to miss two to three days per week of classes during golf season. This made keeping the grades up for dental school extremely difficult.
Although my father was encouraging when I got accepted into dental school, he still left all the financial and career decisions up to me. In 2007 I decided to launch my very own Custom Dental practice in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. After a year and a half, it was time for my father to transition his career which meant I would be thrown into a practice that was older than me.
Fortunately the struggling of becoming paid off. Today I have a great dental team in Guthrie, a wonderful daughter, a loving mom and a dad who is still dishing out opportunities for me to become more.
I am currently the Vice President of the OU College of Dentistry Alumni Association. I have completed extensive post-doctoral studies in dental implants, orthodontics and comprehensive dental rehabilitation.
